CLEOME- 'COLOUR FOUNTAIN' Cleome
hasslerana
Of Mediterranean origin, this member of the caper family is easy to
grow and definitely will make a statement, especially when planted
in a mass. The species name, hasslerana, is after the plant collector
Emile Hassler. The flowers of cleome are 15 - 20 cm across but because
they are open and airy, they always look graceful. Though the leaves
and stalks are sticky and thorny cleome makes wonderful cut flowers.
Plant them with cosmos to capture a Victorian atmosphere. Early 1800’s.
