CUPID’S DART Catananche caerulea
Every cottage garden should have this
drought-tolerant gem that flowers freely from
June to Late August. Boasting intensely blue
cornflower like blooms whose petals are
toothed and sturdy gray green stems and
leaves, it was once used in love potions. Plant it
in masses for an especially glorious show and
for bouquets in the house – fresh or dried.
Discovered in SW Europe and introduced to
gardens in the late 1700’s. Sometimes will
flower first year. Ht. 60 cm Sp. 30 cm D.S. mid-spring.
Zone 3-8.
