STURT'S DESERT PEA STURT’S DESERT PEA swainsona formosa On a trip to southern Australia, If found this gem growing wild in the desert. The silky grey-green foliage rises from prostrate stems. The flowers are arranged in clusters of 6 to 8 on short erect stems. The blooms are blood red with glossy black swellings. They are great for baskets and planters. Type: Perennial - BUT treat as an Annual Light: full sun Soil: well drained Space 30cm Height: 15-20 cm Season: Summer Propagation: Soak seeds in very hot water (almost boiling) overnight. Direct seed after frost danger. OR Start indoors 6 weeks before last frost. Germinate @ 22C. Plant out after frost. Hint: DO NOT over water SEED COUNT: Approx. 25 |
