CARDOON CARDOON Related to the artichokes. The leaf stalks and mid ribs of the plant have a similar flovour to artichokes when boiled. Left to mature, the plant produces large violet blue flowers and attractive silvery foliage. Type: Perennial Zone: 7 or warmer (treat as an annual) Light: sun Soil: very fertile, well drained Propagation: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Sow 1cm deep. Germinate @ 21-24C. As soon as able to handle transplant to 10cm pots and grow @ 15-21C. Plant out after frsot danger spacing 60-80cm. SEED COUNT: Approx. 40 |
