THYME - SUMMER Thymus vulgarism - It's strong pungent flavour goes great with meat dishes, especially lamb. A sprig placed on a roasting leg lends the meat an incomparable flavour. Fresh sprigs will keep for several days in a plastic bag or set stems in water in the refrigerator. Keep dried leaves in an airtight container in a cool place away from light. Just before using, crush the dried leaves to release the flavour. Type: Perennial. Zone: 5 Light: sun Soil: well drained Height: 20-30cm Propagation: Direct seed 2-3 weeks before last frost or in late autumn. OR Start indoors 6-8weeks before last frost. Germinate @ 18C.
