TURNIPS - PURPLE TOP WHITE GLOBE Introduced prior to 1880, this is still the standard for both commercial and home gardeners. Roots are purplish red above ground and cream below. The flesh is sweet, mild flavoured and fine textured. Harvest when the roots are 8 to 10cm in diameter. Direct seed in early to mid spring. Sow seeds 1cm deep. They will germinate in 8 days.
