Dahlia veriabilis - Originating in Mexico, these easy to grow, showy annuals will dominate your summer border. The semi-double flowers range from very light pastels to gaudy neons and everything in between. This plant will reward you with a profusion of blooms. Feeding them bonemeal in June and August will promote blooming. Deadheading is essential to flower production. Lift the tubers in the fall and store in a cool dry place and replant them in the spring. Type: Annual Light: full sun Soil: good garden Spacing: 30 cm Height: to 60 cm. Season: summer into fall. Propagation: Direct seed 1 to 2 weeks before last frost. Cover lightly. OR Start indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Germinate at 18C. OR Plant tubers 15 cm deep after last frost.
