A favourite for over 100years (1892). Brought from Europe it remains the best popular standard variety. This dark red globe shaped beet has excellent flavour raw, steamed or baked. It keeps well and is mildew resistant. Soak seeds overnight. Plant in early spring after frost danger. Sow 1cm deep 2 to 4cm apart. Germinates in 8 days. 55 days to maturity.
