Dirk's Message

The summer of 2020 proved to be a challenge. For those of us gardening in the country, the long hot summer put pressure on our wells and generally hurt our gardens. We envied the urban gardeners on “town water.”

Ironically it proved a boom year for gardening thanks to the Covid-19 crisis. It even got its own moniker “Covid Gardening.” Lisa Mullins, a research associate at Dalhousie University’s Agri- Food Analytics Lab, was reported in the National Post as saying, “Pandemic gardening is definitely a thing. Lockdown led a lot of people to look at their physical surroundings and say ‘OK. What can I do to add a little joy to my life – to broaden my interest.’” More than 20% of the so called Covid Gardeners had never gardened before. We’re happy that they now share our need to get our hands in the dirt.

This year we have instituted a new shipping policy and rates schedule. We have increased our rates a wee bit. Orders of$35.00 (before taxes) will be mailed First Class Canada Post. Orders over that will be mailed by Expedited Parcel Post (which is trackable).

This catalogue will be in effect for 2 years. In 2022 you will receive a flyer with any new additions plus a new order form. We think this will help decrease waste and keep our seed prices down. So KEEP THIS CATALOGUE.

As always, we would love to get your feedback on these changes, and please continue to send us your stories and pictures.

We are sad to say that Canada Blooms, March 2021 has been cancelled due to Covid-19.

We wish everyone a safe and successful 2021 and 2022.

Happy Gardening
Dirk
