DIANTHUS - BLACK SWEET WILLIAM dianthus barbatus eschberg The botanical name means "divine bearded flower." Not surprising that they are a favourite of the swallowtail butterfly. Large heads of carnation- scented flowers of the deepest violet purple (almost black) rise up from leafy mounds. Long lasting as cut flowers.
