TOMATOES - BLACK CHERRY lycopeersicon esculentum This heirloom variety originated in Russia. The 2.5cm fruits are a deep red (almost black) and are grown in clusters. They have a strong, tangy sweet taste. Great for eating right off the vine. They love rich soil. Add some compost when setting out. Start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost. Cover seed lightly and germinate at 22C. Set out after hardening off. Space plants 45cm apart. NOTE: If the plants get spindly due to lack of light, when you plant them out simply bury more of the plant stem. It will not affect the growth and the plant will produce roots along the buried stem. Maturity: 70-90 days SEED COUNT: Approx. 30 |
