POPPY - HUNGARIAN BLUE POPPY Hungarian Blue papavar somniferum A heirloom bread seed poppy with large single purple-blue flowers that sit on silvery cut foliage. When flowers fall they leave attractive seed pods filled with grey-blue seeds for baking. Stems of seed pods also make beautiful cuts. Bees love them. Type: Annual Light: full sun Soil: not fussy Space: 20cm Height: 70-90cm Season: June through September Propagation: Direct seed in early spring or autumn. Cover lightly. Sow seeds in autumn for early blooms in the spring. SEED COUNT: Approx. 900 Note: Poppies are tap-rooted and do not take well to transplanting, so sow the seeds in flowering position in early spring or fall, thin and deadhead to keep flowers coming. |
